The Continuing Education Center at Rancho Bernardo (CEC) was founded in 1978 and operated for 25 years as a project of the San Diego State University, College of Extended Studies.  Reorganized in 2004 as an independent, non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation, CEC  is dedicated to providing enrichment type, non-credit college level classes and other intellectually stimulating activities for area residents. CEC is operated by volunteers and offers daytime classes in space provided by the Remington Club, a senior living community, behind the Vons store in Rancho Bernardo.  The classes cover a variety of subjects such as history, literature, science, philosophy, music, art and public affairs.  Membership in the Continuing Education Center is open to all interested adults.  Members receive the monthly newsletter and reduced class fees.  The all volunteer nature of CEC makes it possible to keep fees to a minimum.  Currently annual tax deductible membership dues are $30 for an individual and $50 for a family.  Class fees are $5 per session for members and $7 per session for non-members.

Special events, such as operas, concerts, plays and ballets, and field trips to educational sites are scheduled monthly during the academic year.  CEC trips provide easy access and quality seating.  Entrance, seating and costs, as well as coach transportation to all locations outside of Rancho Bernardo, are included in our value pricing.  Often luncheons are included in full day excursions.

A newsletter published monthly during the program year includes articles about recent and forthcoming events, descriptions of the courses for the coming month,  highlights of future classes and membership and course enrollment forms.  The newsletter is mailed to all members and is available in libraries, banks and other public places.
