Eugene Marseglia received his BA with Special Honors in Art History and Theory from The George Washington University. He then spent two years in Italy on a Fulbright Scholarship doing research towards his dissertation on the Architecture of Santa Maria della Steccata in Parma for which he was awarded a Ph.D. with Distinction from The Johns Hopkins University.
Teaching posts have included: McMaster University, Ontario, Canada, where he held the chair in the Department of Fine Arts. Dr. Marseglia returned to live in Florence and taught for several American University programs in Italy. After moving to Cambridge (UK) he taught courses for Cambridge University’s Board of Continuing Education for fifteen years. Over a ten-year period each summer, he would teach courses for the University of California Summer Sessions, held annually at Pembroke College, where he served as academic director of the summer sessions for his last three summers in Cambridge. He was awarded membership for life to Pembroke College.
After thirty-five consecutive years of living abroad—Italy and Cambridge—he returned to the USA and has settled in California. He has been teaching at Platt College of Design San Diego and for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. At the CEC, Dr. Maseglia has instructed classes on Renaissance Gentleman, ROMEO and JULIET, Rembrandt and the Dutch Painters, The Impressionists, Great Painters- Carravaggio, and Velosquez.
